24th of July Fun

We had a fun day on the 24th. We didn't get to do anything on the 4th as a family cuz Scott was working. And we couldn't do too much on the 24th because I was still recovering from surgery, but we managed to celebrate anyway and the kids enjoyed it!

We started with sprinklers on the lawn and trampoline.

Scott was blowing up the big sprinkler ball, but it was slow going!

I got his attention, and he let me take a photo.

Matt came in early, he's not big on the sprinklers. He wanted to play with his "woo-woo's"
Shortly after Matt came in they girls came in too.
I was making cards, so the kids wanted to do crafts too!

Our 3 little artists!
One of the girls took a photo of me, making cards
And one of Scott and I enjoying our time together
We made home made ice cream
Kayla helped with the salt and ice layers

We bought sparklers, and some fireworks. Our neighbors did too so we all got together to watch our fireworks.
The kids were so cute in their chairs!

Matt got to play with his first sparkler (video of it is at the bottom)

The girls got to have some too

Matt decided he'd had enough of the sparklers, and wanted to come hang with Mommy.

The fire works!!!!

After the fireworks, we enjoyed the home made peach ice cream we made.

MMMMM ICE CREAM

It was so creamy Kayla had a mustache!
hanging out on the porch swing
The kids told scary stories with the flash lights

This is Matt trying to light up his face like kayla did!
And this is Alyssa's version of it!

Matt playing with his first sparkler...he wasn't so sure what to do with it. SO CUTE!

Mel's tonsilectomy

I had to have my tonsils and adenoids out. I should have had it done last year, but we never did find a time to get it done. After having tonsillitis several times since, we decided to get them out. (it was a blessing in disguise though, Scott was able to show me how much he still loved me by taking such good care of me, among other things, while I was down and out)
Pre surgery -writing an e mail to leslie, giving her instructions for the bridal shower that I "giving" but afraid I would no longer be up to showing up to. I was passing the torch so to speak, just in case.
Post surgery. eating a popsicle and looking really pathetic.
I screwed up the order of these, this is the first shot of me after surgery. Scott felt he should have photos of me looking so horrible.

Enjoying my first popsicle after surgery.
After I got home, I quickly found out that they still make jello puddin' pops. They were my best friend after surgery, those and all the slurpies scott bought me! It took me about 3-4 weeks, but I mended and am doing well now!

Scott's Birthday

Scott had his 30th birthday on the 13th of July. He wanted to do something fun, so we had the kids give him their gifts then we sent them off to Grandma and Grandpa's so we could go do something fun without them.
Happy Birthday Daddy!
A quick family photo
The 2 of us on our first "official date" after the separation.
We went to a club that had dueling pianos. They didn't
actually duel, more like they took turns playing the
requests, but we had a lot of fun anyway!
A birthday kiss, for the Birthday boy.
I told the pianists that it was Scott's birthday.
I put happy birthday on the song request list.
They played it and made him sit on top of the
piano while we sang to him.
Before we sang Happy Birthday.
The pianist sang a song to Scott...
The first verse was the itsy, bitsy, teeny, weenie yellow polka dot bikini song, but the second verse was changed to itsy, bitsy, teeny, weenie little pecker for a weenie. We all laughed as we sang along. Then we sang happy birthday to him. It was so funny to watch him sitting on a stool on top of the piano. Totally embarrassed and enjoying every minute of it. We had a great night together.
